Description:

This course explores the critical integration of ventilation system inspections and streamlined HVAC specifications to design buildings that prioritize both indoor air quality (IAQ) and energy efficiency from inception. Participants will learn to navigate preconstruction planning by analyzing strategies to determine appropriate duct cleanliness levels—Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced—tailored to specific building usage and environmental risks. The curriculum emphasizes the practical evaluation of commissioning through visible component inspections to verify the success of construction-phase cleanliness controls. Furthermore, the course provides actionable insights into designing building specifications that include strategic duct access points, facilitating mandatory routine inspections and long-term preventative maintenance.

By examining the direct correlation between regular HVAC inspections, sustained air purity, and reduced fan energy consumption, learners will bridge the gap between IAQ and operational performance. Finally, students will master the application of the NADCA General Specification as a standardized template for construction and renovation documents, ensuring industry-compliant outcomes and professional accountability throughout the building’s lifecycle.
