NADCA Releases 2025 Edition of ACR, The NADCA Standard for Assessment, Cleaning and Restoration of HVAC Systems

Mt. Laurel, NJ – September 24, 2025 – The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA), also known as the HVAC Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Association, today announced the release of the latest edition of ACR, The NADCA Standard for Assessment, Cleaning, and Restoration of HVAC Systems. Widely recognized as the industry’s benchmark, The Standard provides comprehensive guidance for assessing and cleaning HVAC systems, and cleanliness verification.

Included in The Standard are the procedures for:

  • Determining proper engineering controls and containment
  • Performing HVAC component inspections
  • Developing a comprehensive scope of work that includes safety plans, project schedules, and industry collaboration
  • Understanding proper equipment use and maintenance including fuel-powered equipment and negative air pressure requirements
  • Types of cleaning including source removal, ambient air cleaning, wet cleaning, power washing, and steam cleaning
  • Cleanliness verification methods, including the Surface Comparison Test and NADCA Vacuum Test

“The ACR Standard has long served as the foundation for professional HVAC system cleaning and restoration,” said Charlie Cochrane, ASCS, CVI, NADCA Standards Committee Chair. “This updated edition underscores NADCA’s continuing role in setting and maintaining a high bar for quality, safety, and best practices across the industry.”

ACR, The NADCA Standard, is designed for use by contractors, end-users, specifiers, and anyone involved in the management of HVAC systems. It provides a procedural framework for inspecting, cleaning, and restoring both residential and commercial HVAC systems, with the ultimate goal of ensuring healthy indoor air and optimal system efficiency.
